Job summary

Chandler Macleod in Canberra is seeking an experienced EL2 Director Budgets and Reporting to provide strategic leadership across budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and financial management.

Reporting to the CFO, you will drive financial sustainability, deliver high‑quality budget outcomes, mentor a finance team and advise senior executives on financial strategy.

This role operates in a dynamic environment, shapes national programs and requires NV1 security clearance.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the EL2 Director Budgets and Reporting will provide strategic leadership across budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and financial management activities.

You will be responsible for driving financial sustainability, delivering high-quality budget outcomes, providing trusted advice to senior executives and leading a team responsible for the development and management of internal and external budget processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of budget management strategies and financial plans
• Provide strategic financial advice, analysis and insights to executive stakeholders
• Oversee internal and external budget processes, reporting and forecasting activities
• Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting to senior leadership and governance committees
• Identify, manage and mitigate budget risks while ensuring compliance and financial integrity
• Enable effective financial business partnering across the organisation
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across budgeting and reporting functions
• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team to achieve financial and operational outcomes
