Job summary

Healius is seeking an experienced Scientific Officer to join Laverty Pathology in North Ryde, NSW. The role covers manual and automated diagnostic testing, routine procedures from receipt to result, stock control, QA, and staff training within a busy pathology lab.

Successful candidates will contribute to continuous improvement, maintain equipment, ensure compliance with quality standards, and liaise with referring practitioners as needed. A Bachelor of Science or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science.
• Experience, knowledge, and skills within the discipline.
• Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting.
• Ability to identify and implement quality/service improvements per accreditation.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain high quality.
• Commitment to quality and adherence to policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performing manual and automated diagnostic testing.
• Handling routine procedures from specimen reception to results reporting.
• Assisting with stock control and inventory.
• Maintaining records and ensuring QA/records compliance.
• Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment.
• Participating in training staff and QA activities.
• Liaising with internal/external stakeholders on test results and referrals.
• Contributing to continuous improvement and new assay development.
