Job description

Are you an experienced Development Manager with a strong understanding of built-form and masterplanned projects, combined with the technical and commercial acumen to evaluate different development solutions?

This is a particularly interesting opportunity involving distinctive masterplanned and redevelopment projects within the leisure and tourism sector. The portfolio extends across Australia, with projects at varying stages—from initial site assessment, masterplanning, design and approvals through to construction and delivery.

Based in Brisbane and reporting to the General Manager of Development, you will operate with considerable autonomy while travelling throughout Australia as required. You will work closely with acquisitions, marketing and support teams, as well as architects, planning consultants, cost planners, engineers, contractors and local project personnel.

A strong understanding of built form and masterplanning will be central to the role. You will assess development opportunities, consider alternative design and delivery solutions, identify technical and commercial risks, and help determine the most practical and commercially viable outcome for each site.

You will need sufficient planning experience to navigate projects across different state and local government jurisdictions, although this is not a specialist town-planning position. More important will be your ability to understand how masterplanning, design, planning, construction methodology and project costs interact—and to use that knowledge to make well-considered development decisions.

Exposure to cost planning, feasibility assessment and value management will be highly regarded. You will be comfortable interrogating consultant advice, reviewing technical information and balancing design ambition with commercial and practical constraints.

The successful candidate may come from a development management, architectural, design management or similarly technical background. An architect who has transitioned into development and possesses strong commercial judgement could be particularly well suited.

This Brisbane-based role offers a package of $200,000–$250,000, commensurate with experience. You must have Australian Citizenship or PR for this role.
