Lake Macquarie City Council is seeking a Development Compliance Officer to ensure building work and land use comply with legislation, consents and Council requirements. You will investigate complaints, conduct inspections, gather evidence and negotiate outcomes to support a safe, fair and compliant development.

You’ll work with residents, developers and stakeholders, applying legislation and maintaining records while balancing customer service with regulatory duties.

Competenze

• Certificate IV in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Local Government Act 1993 as they relate to building work and land use.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including investigation, negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution.
• Current Class C Driver Licence.

• Investigate complaints and conduct inspections relating to unauthorised building work, land use and non-compliant development.
• Interpret and apply legislation, development consents, policies and procedures to assess compliance.
• Provide timely, accurate and practical advice to customers and stakeholders.
• Build constructive relationships and use negotiation and conflict resolution to achieve compliance outcomes.
• Prepare and serve statutory notices and other regulatory documentation per legislation.
• Manage a diverse caseload with inspections, investigations and enforcement actions.
• Maintain records and prepare reports with supporting evidence, including court representation when required.
