Job summary

City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is seeking a Development Team Leader to lead the Development Assessment Unit and guide regulatory services. You will coordinate approvals, enforce planning decisions and shape policy to deliver high‑quality urban design outcomes.

You will drive complex Development Applications, mentor staff, and collaborate with external agencies to ensure timely, compliant planning processes within the Council area.

Qualifications

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or related discipline.
• Experience in Local Government and planning policy development.
• Knowledge of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 (PDI Act).
• Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage competing priorities.
• Eligibility for Corporate Membership of the Planning Institute of Australia.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate Development Assessment and regulatory functions.
• Assess complex Development Applications under PDI Act.
• Develop and formulate Planning Code policies and concepts.
• Provide timely planning advice to Council and staff.
