Job summary

FMS Group in Australia is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join the Finance team and support month-end, reporting and general accounting functions across the group.

You will maintain the general ledger, prepare journals, accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets, reconcile balance sheets and intercompany accounts, and support GST/BAS obligations. You will collaborate with the broader finance team and operate with high attention to detail to ensure accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level qualification in Accounting/Finance or related discipline.
• CPA or CA qualification completed or in progress.
• Experience in financial accounting, general ledger maintenance and reconciliations.
• Strong month-end close experience.
• Sound knowledge of journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, intercompany and GST.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining accurate and complete general ledger records.
• Preparing and posting journals, accruals, prepayments, allocations and reclassifications.
• Supporting month-end close and financial reporting processes.
• Preparing and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations.
• Investigating accounting anomalies, coding issues and unreconciled balances.
• Supporting Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable with accounting and system issues.
• Maintaining fixed asset records and depreciation.
• Preparing and reconciling intercompany accounts.
• Supporting BAS/GST, audit and statutory reporting requirements.
• Managing day-to-day cashbook and bank reconciliation activities.
• Preparing and maintaining short- and medium-term cashflow forecasts.
• Identifying opportunities to improve Finance processes, systems and controls.
• Providing financial accounting support to the Financial Controller and broader Finance team.
