Job summary

Abbe is seeking a hands-on yard operator at our Coolaroo site in Melbourne for day shifts starting early morning. You will couple/uncouple trailers, operate a yard tug and forklifts, and manage freight movements in a busy yard and dock environment throughout the day.

You must hold a valid LF license and have proven experience with yard tugs or heavy vehicles. Strong safety focus and reliability for full-time hours with overtime flexibility are essential.

Responsibilities

• Couple and uncouple trucks and trailers using yard tugger.
• Communicate trailer movements to operations and team members.
• Operate forklifts and handle freight safely and efficiently.
• Assist with vehicle loading and unloading.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe yard.
• Safely manoeuvre and position trailers in yard and dock areas.
• Conduct pre-start checks and basic vehicle maintenance.
• Liaise with dispatch and warehouse teams to coordinate trailer movements.
• Follow all site safety and compliance protocols.

About the role

This role involves coupling and uncoupling trucks and trailers using a yard tug, operating forklifts, and managing freight movements in a yard and dock environment. You will communicate trailer movements to operations and team members, assist with vehicle loading and unloading, and maintain a safe and organised yard.

This role is based at our Abbe Coolaroo site. The current vacancy is for a Day shift, start time 5:54am.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with vehicle loading and unloading
