Job summary

Torres Strait Regional Council (TSIRC) is seeking a Desktop & Systems Administrator to manage and improve IT infrastructure across Cairns and the Torres Strait region. You will support staff, manage networks, servers, and devices, and drive security and reliability of critical systems.

You will administer Microsoft 365, AD, Entra ID, VMware, and cloud services; monitor security, backups, and disaster recovery; and develop PowerShell scripts to automate processes.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience supporting a complex IT environment or an IT qualification.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, AD, Entra ID, VMware and networking.
• Experience with PowerShell, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and SQL administration.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support Council's IT systems, networks, servers and devices.
• Administer Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, VMware and cloud-based systems.
• Monitor cyber security, system performance, backups and disaster recovery.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide onsite and remote IT support.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts, automated processes and applications.
• Identify opportunities to improve IT systems, security and operational efficiency.
