Zusammenfassung

Torres Strait Island Regional Council (TSIRC) is seeking a Desktop & Systems Administrator based in Cairns to manage, maintain and improve the Council's IT infrastructure for staff across Cairns and the Torres Strait region.

You will handle network administration, cyber security, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, VMware and cloud-based systems, ensuring efficient operations and reliable service delivery for essential council programs.

Qualifikationen

• 3–5 years' experience in a complex IT environment or a relevant IT qualification.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, VMware and networking.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and SQL administration.
• Sound knowledge of cyber security, backups and networking hardware.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive, team-focused approach with ability to work independently.

About the Role:

As our Desktop & Systems Administrator, you will play a key role in managing, maintaining and improving Council's IT infrastructure, supporting staff across Cairns and the Torres Strait region.

From network administration and cyber security to Microsoft 365 and systems support, you'll help ensure our technology operates efficiently while contributing to innovative solutions that support our island communities.

What you'll be doing:

• Maintain and support Council's IT systems, networks, servers and devices.
• Administer Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, VMware and cloud-based systems.
• Monitor cyber security, system performance, backups and disaster recovery.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide onsite and remote IT support.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts, automated processes and applications.
• Identify opportunities to improve IT systems, security and operational efficiency.

What We're Looking For:

• 3 - 5 years' experience supporting a complex IT environment and/or a relevant IT qualification.
• Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, VMware and networking.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and SQL administration.
• Sound knowledge of cyber security, Veeam backups and Cisco Meraki networking.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive, team-focused approach with the ability to work independently.

Experience with TechnologyOne, ITIL certification and knowledge of Torres Strait languages and culture will be highly regarded.
