Job summary

R-IT Solutions Pty Ltd is seeking a System and Network Engineer to administer, configure, monitor, and support computer systems and network infrastructure across managed client environments in Parramatta, NSW. You will be a hands-on ICT professional delivering reliable and secure IT services.

Key duties include managing Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, 365/Intune, backups, and VPNs, with a focus on incident response and proactive problem solving in a managed services setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in ICT or related field.
• At least five years' experience in systems administration, systems engineering, or network support in an MSP or similar environment.
• Experience administering Windows Server, AD, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft 365/Intune.
• Strong troubleshooting across server, OS, workstation, and network issues.
• Knowledge of virtualised environments, VPNs, backups, and security controls.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and workstations across client environments.
• Administer Windows Server environments including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file services.
• Monitor performance, availability and capacity, and resolve operational issues.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot server, OS, workstation, network, and hardware/software issues.
• Administer Microsoft 365 and Intune, and manage cloud/endpoint environments.
• Configure and maintain virtualised environments, VPNs, VLANs, and network services.
• Manage backups and assist data recovery when required.
• Control user access, security permissions, and endpoint security policies.
• Deploy new or upgraded systems and applications across client environments.
• Respond to incidents and service requests with effective support to business clients.

Job description

The System and Network Engineer will be responsible for the administration, configuration, maintenance, monitoring and support of computer systems, servers, operating environments and associated network infrastructure across managed client environments. The position requires a hands-on ICT professional who can maintain reliable and secure systems, troubleshoot technical issues and support the ongoing performance of client IT environments.

Key responsibilities

• Installing, configuring, administering and maintaining servers, operating systems, workstations and associated IT infrastructure across managed client environments.
• Administering Windows Server environments and related services, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file services, user accounts and access permissions.
• Monitoring system and server performance, availability and capacity, and identifying and resolving operational or performance issues.
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting server, operating system, workstation, network and related hardware and software issues.
• Administering Microsoft 365, Microsoft Intune and associated cloud and endpoint management environments.
• Configuring and maintaining virtualised environments, VPNs, VLANs and other network services supporting client systems.
• Managing system backups, monitoring backup performance and assisting with data recovery and restoration activities when required.
• Managing user access, security permissions, system policies and endpoint security controls to maintain secure and reliable client environments.
• Installing, testing and supporting new or upgraded systems, applications, servers and related ICT equipment.
• Responding to technical incidents and service requests and providing effective system and infrastructure support to business clients.

About you

• Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Engineering or a closely related ICT discipline.
• In the absence of a relevant formal qualification, a minimum of five years of relevant professional work experience in systems administration, systems engineering, network and systems support or a closely related ICT role.
• Relevant practical experience in the administration and support of Windows Server environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft 365, Intune, virtualisation, VPNs, system backups, user access management and network infrastructure.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving server, operating system, workstation and network-related issues within a commercial IT environment.
• Experience within a managed services provider environment and supporting multiple client environments will be highly regarded.
• Strong systems administration and technical troubleshooting capability.
• Sound knowledge of Windows Server and Windows desktop environments.
• Good understanding of networking concepts and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs and VPNs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently.
• Ability to manage competing technical priorities and support multiple client environments.
