Job summary

Randstad is seeking a Desktop Support Officer for the Brisbane-based public sector team. The role focuses on end-user support in Microsoft Windows and M365 environments, with emphasis on hardware/software deployment and environment maintenance across Queensland.

You will work with MECM, Intune and ServiceNow, manage desktop security and network basics, and contribute to ITIL-based service management. The position is contracted until January 29, 2027 with possible extension, and applications

About The Organisation & Team

Digital and Technology Solutions (DTS) provides efficient, reliable, and secure ICT solutions to support core government operations and agency partners.

The Service Delivery Management team is a client-focused, integral business partner enabling secure, scalable, and modern core ICT services. As the face of DTS, the team facilitates technology services through customer engagement, support, and education.

Role Purpose

Working within a team of ICT technical specialists, the Desktop Support Officer supports enterprise services and solutions hosted and deployed primarily in Microsoft Windows and M365 computing environments. This role ensures effective end-user support, environment maintenance, and successful hardware/software deployments across Queensland.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Technical Maintenance & Support

• Install, maintain, and support enterprise ICT environments using relevant platforms and tools.
• Provide hardware and software administration for desktop systems, mobile devices, and video conferencing rooms.
• Support end-user platforms including Microsoft Configuration Manager (MECM), Microsoft Intune, and ServiceNow.
• Administer desktop security software, including Antivirus controls and Application Allowlisting/Whitelisting.
• Maintain standard network operations, working with TCP/IP, LAN, and WAN configurations.

Operations & Problem Solving

• Conduct systematic analytical and problem-solving activities within an ITIL-based service management framework.
• Participate in statewide ICT hardware and software rollouts and deployments.

Consultation & Collaboration

• Consult, negotiate, and provide expert ICT advice to staff across all levels regarding DTS facilities and operations.
• Collaborate effectively within the Technology Services Group, understanding team roles to deliver cohesive support services.
• Promote a high-quality customer service culture aligned with quality documentation and continuous improvement.

Key Selection Criteria & Eligibility

Technical Expertise

• Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows OS, desktop and mobile hardware, and video conferencing equipment.
• Solid understanding of enterprise end-user management tools (Intune, MECM) and ITSM platforms (ServiceNow).
• Practical understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, LAN, WAN).
