Job summary

TAB Resources Pty Ltd in Wollongong, NSW is seeking a design draftsperson to join the engineering team. You will deliver precise 3D models and production-ready drawings across piping, structural steel and mechanical systems, reporting to engineering leadership.

You will build standard parts libraries, optimise BOMs and drawing templates, and collaborate with OEMs and internal stakeholders to maintain high-quality outputs in line with Australian standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional drafting experience covering piping, structural steel, and mechanical systems.
• Advanced capability in part modelling, assembly modelling, and master modelling methodologies.
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk CAD and Inventor (or equivalent 3D modelling package).
• Ability to develop standard parts libraries and templates.

Responsibilities

• Generate precise detail drawings and complex assembly layouts for fabrication and production.
• Build and maintain standard parts libraries to streamline recurring workflows.
• Configure and optimise automated BOMs, drawing borders and material calculations.
• Review and verify engineering drawing outputs to ensure compliance with company and Australian standards.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to align engineering deliverables.
• Coordinate with OEMs to ensure clear requirements and timely resolution of issues.

About the role

As a design draftsperson, you will work with the engineering team to delivery highly accurate 3D models and production-ready manufacturing drawings across a variety of engineering projects. You will work with structural steel fabrication, piping networks, and mechanical assemblies, among others. You will collaborate with the design team, reporting directly to engineering leadership. To excel in this role, you will drive drafting efficiencies by developing standard parts libraries and templates, and customising drawing automation shortcuts.

Key responsibilities

• Generate precise detail drawings and complex assembly layouts for fabrication and production.
• Build and maintain standard parts libraries to streamline recurring team workflows.
• Configure and optimise automated Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawing borders, and material calculations.
• Review and verify engineering drawing outputs to guarantee strict compliance with company and Australian standards.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of engineering deliverables.
• Coordinate with OEMs where necessary, ensuring clear communication of requirements and timely resolution of issues.

About you

• Minimum 3+ years of professional drafting experience specifically covering piping, structural steel, and mechanical systems.
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk (CAD, Inventor) is highly preferred, though equivalent 3D modelling package experience is accepted.
• Advanced capability in part modelling, assembly modelling, and master modelling methodologies is essential.
• Preferential skills in customising Inventor for quick add-ins (e.g., drawing notes, BOMs, profile/plate details, surface areas, and borders).
• Problem solving mindset, able to identify issues early and implement effective, practical solutions.
• Exposure to large-scale mining infrastructure and sustainability-driven projects.
• Mentorship from experienced Project Managers and Senior Engineers.
