Job summary

Fraser-Lever Pty Ltd in Brisbane is seeking an experienced Design Drafter to produce 2D drawings and 3D models for mining and industrial work. You will focus on practical mechanical, structural and piping design, translating inputs into clear, constructible documentation.

Based in our Brisbane office, you will collaborate with engineers to resolve interfaces, maintain model cleanliness, and ensure timely delivery for diverse projects across Australia.

Qualifications

• A relevant drafting or design qualification, or equivalent practical industry or trade experience.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and understand how components are fabricated, assembled and installed.
• Experience delivering mining, industrial or similar projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop layouts, models and detailed drawings for equipment, steelwork, piping and associated industrial infrastructure.
• Translate engineering sketches, specifications and site information into clear dimensions, annotations and constructible details.
• Coordinate with engineers and discipline specialists to resolve interfaces and incorporate current design inputs.
• Self-check your work, contribute to peer reviews and apply company, client and relevant Australian Standards.
• Maintain clean models, drawing registers, file naming and revision records; communicate progress and raise clashes or missing information early.

The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Design Drafter, based in our Brisbane office, to produce 2D drawings and 3D models for mining and industrial work. Your focus will be practical mechanical, structural and piping design and detailing, working from engineering inputs and site information. This is a hands‑on drafting role for someone who enjoys resolving details, coordinating interfaces and producing documentation that can be built.

Key responsibilities

• Develop layouts, models and detailed drawings for equipment, steelwork, piping and associated industrial infrastructure.
• Translate engineering sketches, specifications and site information into clear dimensions, annotations and constructible details.
• Coordinate with engineers and discipline specialists to resolve interfaces and incorporate current design inputs.
• Self-check your work, contribute to peer reviews and apply company, client and relevant Australian Standards.
• Maintain clean models, drawing registers, file naming and revision records; communicate progress and raise clashes or missing information early.

What you’ll bring

A relevant drafting or design qualification, or equivalent practical industry or trade experience, together with demonstrated delivery of mining, industrial or similar projects. You can interpret engineering drawings and understand how components are fabricated, assembled and installed.

• Confident AutoCAD skills and strong 3D capability in one or more of Plant 3D, Advance Steel or Inventor.
• Careful drawing preparation, sound self-checking habits and familiarity with CAD standards, templates and model references.
• Clear communication, practical problem-solving and the ability to manage your workload and agreed deadlines.
• Navisworks or Vault experience is welcome; Revit or 12D knowledge may be useful for relevant project interfaces.
