Job summary

MCA Engineering seeks an experienced Mechanical / Structural Designer – Draftsperson to support the engineering team with 3D modelling and detailed drafting for mechanical equipment and supporting structures across Australia.

In Autodesk Inventor, you will develop models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings for equipment including winch and trolley systems, lifting platforms and mobility platforms, ensuring accurate, clearly presented drawings that communicate manufacturing and assembly

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in mechanical and structural design and drafting.
• Strong Autodesk Inventor skills including routed systems
• Experience detailing steel structures and fabricated mechanical equipment.
• A methodical drafting approach with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and design mark-ups.
• Practical understanding of fabrication, machining and assembly requirements.
• Strong organisation skills and the ability to deliver accurate drawing packages within project deadlines.
• An engineering degree would be an advantage but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Create and update 3D parts, assemblies and detailed drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Prepare mechanical and structural fabrication drawings, including frames, platforms, supports and equipment connections.
• Translate engineering concepts, specifications and mark-ups into detailed drawing packages.
• Clearly document dimensions, tolerances, materials, weld details and assembly requirements.
• Develop bills of materials and maintain consistency between models, drawings and component schedules.
• Check component fit, clearances and interfaces within equipment assemblies.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness and suitability for manufacture.
• Work closely with engineers and workshop teams to resolve drafting queries and incorporate feedback.
• Maintain drawing revisions and document control throughout the project.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical / Structural Designer – Draftsperson to support our engineering team with 3D modelling and detailed drafting for mechanical equipment and supporting structures.

Working in Autodesk Inventor, you will develop models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings for equipment including winch and trolley systems, lifting platforms and mobility platforms.

This role requires a strong drafting mindset and close attention to detail. You will focus on producing accurate, complete and clearly presented drawings that communicate how components are manufactured, assembled and fitted together.
