Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in the design and drafting of tanks, silos, platforms, and structural steelwork.
• Advanced, expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Deep practical understanding of structural drafting and sheet metal component limitations to guarantee designs are buildable.
• Preferred knowledge of Australian Standards including AS1657, AS1210, AS2304, AS4100, and AS4600.
• A self-motivated operator who thrives under pressure, works autonomously, and balances short lead times with detail.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to liaise with engineers, project managers, and factory personnel.
• A valid, current Australian driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle.

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Drafter for our drafting output across the full project lifecycle.

In this role, you will hold complete accountability for turning engineering concepts into high-quality, fabrication-ready drawing packages. You will bridge the gap between initial general arrangement concepts and final manufacturing details, managing multiple competing priorities under tight timelines without compromising on quality or accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Design: Prepare and manage comprehensive drawings, plans, and designs for tanks, silos, platforms, and structural steelwork.
• 3D Modelling: Create and modify complex mechanical assemblies and large-scale models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Workshop Packages: Produce highly accurate general assembly drawings, detailed construction packages, sheet metal details, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to a strict fabrication-ready standard.
• Quality Assurance: Manage drawing registers, file libraries, and rigorous revision controls. Act as a key technical checker for drawings produced by other team drafters to ensure absolute quality before release.
• Compliance: Ensure all generated designs strictly comply with individual client specifications and relevant Australian Standards (AS1657, AS1210, AS2304, AS4100, AS4600).
• Team Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with fellow drafters, project managers, and the production team to swiftly resolve design and fabrication queries.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in the design and drafting of tanks, silos, platforms, and structural steelwork.
• Software Mastery: Advanced, expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. You must have a demonstrated history of handling large assembly modelling, custom configurations, drawing templates, and accurate BOMs.
• Fabrication Know-How: Deep practical understanding of structural drafting and sheet metal component limitations to guarantee designs are buildable.
• Standards Familiarity: Preferred knowledge of Australian Standards including AS1657, AS1210, AS2304, AS4100, and AS4600.
• Work Style: A self-motivated operator who thrives under pressure, works autonomously, and successfully balances short lead times with fine attention to detail.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to confidently liaise with engineers, project managers, and factory personnel.
• License: A valid, current Australian driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle.
