CMT Engineers Pty Ltd is seeking a Civil & Structural Engineering Draftsperson to join our Brisbane team. Based in Upper Mount Gravatt, this permanent full-time role involves producing accurate civil and structural drawings for subdivisions, infrastructure, and drainage projects.

You will work with engineers and designers, apply Australian standards, and contribute to fast-paced project delivery while using CAD tools like AutoCAD, Civil 3D or 12d Model.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Advanced Diploma/Associate Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
• At least one year of post-qualification experience drafting civil/structural drawings using CAD software.
• Multi-discipline understanding of structural, civil and geotechnical principles.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and revise civil/structural drawings for subdivisions, roadworks, earthworks and infrastructure.
• Turn designs, survey data and geotechnical information into clear, buildable drawings.
• Prepare drawing packages for approvals and construction, and check drawings for accuracy.

Civil & Structural Engineering Draftsperson

CMT Engineers Pty Ltd

Location: Upper Mount Gravatt, Brisbane QLD

Employment: Permanent full-time, 38 hours per week

Salary: $80,000 per year plus superannuation

About us

CMT Engineers Pty Ltd is a boutique civil and structural engineering consultancy based in Brisbane. We provide engineering design and project management for land development and civil infrastructure. Our clients come from across Australia and overseas, such that it is important to us to find an applicant who is multilingual. We are looking for a highly capable draftsperson to work with our engineers and civil designers.

This is not a "draw what you're told" role. We want someone who understands the engineering behind the drawings, works quickly and accurately, and can keep up in a fast-paced, deadline-driven consultancy.

What you’ll be doing

• Preparing and revising civil and structural drawings for:
• subdivisions, roadworks and earthworks
• stormwater drainage, and water and sewer infrastructure
• retaining walls, underground tanks, deep manholes and culverts
• bridging slabs, pedestrian decks and bridges, foundations and other civil structures
• Turning engineering designs, survey data and geotechnical information into clear, accurate drawings that can be built
• Performing basic engineering calculations relevant to drawing preparation and checking software outputs under engineering supervision.
• Preparing drawing packages for development approval, operational works and construction
• Checking drawings for accuracy, consistency with the design and compliance with project requirements
• Preparing quantity take-offs and measurements to the relevant Australian standards
• Keeping drawing registers and coordinating revisions with engineers, designers and other disciplines
• Talking with clients, consultants and statutory authorities when needed or as directed by the engineers
• Assisting with occasional site inspections and field soil testing under engineering supervision.

Essential requirements (please apply only if you meet ALL of these)

• Qualification: A Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Engineering Drafting or a related field
• Experience: At least one year of relevant post-qualification experience in preparing civil and/or structural engineering drawings using CAD software, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or 12d Model.
• Multi-discipline understanding: a working knowledge of structural, civil and geotechnical engineering principles.
• Standards awareness: familiar with relevant Australian Standards and Queensland requirements, such as AS 1100 (technical drawing).
• Speed and accuracy: a fast, efficient drafter who still produces high-quality work, with drawings that are right the first time.
• Deadlines and pressure: a proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, sometimes on several projects at once, without the quality slipping
• Languages: excellent spoken and written English, plus fluency in at least two other foreign languages (for example Mandarin & Cantonese would count as one). This is essential because we have a diverse local and international client base.
• Work rights: full working rights in Australia.
• Field experience: you have done site inspections and on-site soil testing before, such as DCP or hand auger testing
