Job summary

1300SMILES Smithfield in Cairns is seeking a friendly, organised Casual Dental Receptionist to be the welcoming face of our busy practice in Smithfield Shopping Centre. As the first point of contact by phone, online or in person, you’ll help keep the appointment book running smoothly and ensure every patient feels cared for.

You’ll work with our dentists and front office team to create a great patient experience, handle payments and health fund claims, and support day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in dental or medical reception.
• Experience using dental practice management software (Dental4Windows, Exact, or similar).
• Accurate handling of payments, item numbers and patient records.
• A warm, welcoming manner that puts patients at ease.
• Clear and professional communication with patients and the team.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Willingness to learn new systems and develop your skills across the practice.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and create a warm, professional first impression.
• Manage phone calls, emails, and patient enquiries.
• Schedule and coordinate appointments efficiently.
• Process payments and maintain accurate patient records.
• Support the clinical team to ensure a seamless patient journey.
• Assist with general administrative and reception duties.
