Job summary

1300SMILES Rockhampton is seeking a motivated Full-Time Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our established team. This permanent role offers hands-on experience across both clinical chairside duties and front-desk reception, with training available for the right candidate.

You will assist dentists, prepare rooms, manage bookings, welcome patients and support with payments. Prior dental experience is preferred but not essential; a positive attitude and strong customer service background are

Qualifications

• Dental experience preferred; training offered to right candidate.
• Certificate III/IV in Dental Assisting advantageous.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Willing to work across both clinical and front-desk duties.
• Reliable and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assisting dentists and oral health therapists chairside during treatment.
• Preparing treatment rooms and setting up instruments before appointments.
• Sterilising instruments and following infection control protocols.
• Welcoming patients and helping them feel comfortable throughout their visit.
• Managing appointment bookings, recalls and patient records.
• Answering calls and patient enquiries.
• Supporting patients with questions around appointments, treatment and payments.
• Assisting with general administration across the practice.
• Working closely with the clinical and reception teams to provide a smooth patient experience.

Qualifications

• Dental Assistant or Reception experience, ideally within a dental or medical setting (preferred, not essential)
• Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting, or a willingness to work towards one (advantageous)
• A warm, professional manner and strong communication skills
• Confidence using computers and learning new systems
• A reliable, team-focused approach
• A willingness to learn and work across both clinical and reception duties
