Job summary

1300SMILES Rockhampton, part of Abano Healthcare Group, is seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant/Receptionist for a permanent full-time role. You will split time between chairside dental assistance and front desk duties, gaining diverse experience in a busy practice.

The role offers training, support from an experienced team, and pathways to career development across Abano’s network of 200+ practices in Australia and New Zealand.

Qualifications

• Professional, positive attitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Interest in building a long-term career in dentistry.
• Dental Assistant or Reception experience preferred, not essential.
• Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting or willingness to work towards one.
• Warm, professional manner with strong communication skills.
• Confident with computers and learning new systems.
• Reliable, team-focused and willing to work across clinical and reception duties.

Responsibilities

• Assisting dentists and oral health therapists chairside during treatment
• Preparing treatment rooms and setting up instruments before appointments
• Sterilising instruments and following infection control protocols
• Welcoming patients and helping them feel comfortable throughout their visit
• Managing appointment bookings, recalls and patient records
• Answering calls and patient enquiries
• Supporting patients with questions around appointments, treatment and payments
• Assisting with general administration across the practice
• Working closely with the clinical and reception teams to provide a smooth patient experience
