Job summary

Burleigh Dentistry in Burleigh Waters, QLD, is seeking a Dental Assistant-Nurse and Receptionist/Manager for a full-time role. You will provide chairside support, manage reception duties and help coordinate daily operations to ensure high-quality patient care.

The role combines clinical support with administrative leadership, requires dental assistant/nurse qualification, experience in reception and practice management software, and a professional, team-focused approach.

Qualifications

  • Formal qualifications as a Dental Assistant or Dental Nurse, or equivalent experience in a dental practice setting.
  • Proven experience working as a dental assistant‑nurse, with strong clinical knowledge and chairside support skills.
  • Experience in dental reception, appointment scheduling and patient management.
  • Proficiency in dental practice management software and computer systems.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional and friendly demeanour.
  • Demonstrated commitment to infection control, sterilisation protocols and workplace safety standards.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small team in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Customer service experience with a patient-focused approach.
  • Reliability, integrity and a proactive attitude towards continuous improvement.
  • Preferred: Experience in a supervisory or management capacity within a healthcare or dental setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive chairside support to dentists during patient treatments, including instrument passing, patient management and clinical assistance.
  • Maintain sterilisation and infection control protocols, ensuring all instruments and equipment meet stringent dental practice standards.
  • Prepare treatment rooms, set up clinical equipment and ensure adequate supplies are available for daily operations.
  • Manage patient reception duties, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments and maintaining accurate patient records.
  • Handle telephone and email communications professionally, responding to patient enquiries and managing appointment bookings.
  • Oversee practice administration, including billing, invoicing and maintenance of patient documentation systems.
  • Coordinate with dental team members to ensure seamless patient flow throughout the day.
  • Assist with practice management responsibilities, including stock ordering, inventory management and general administrative tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and professional reception area and clinical environment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support to ensure patient satisfaction and practice reputation.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant-Nurse and Receptionist/Manager to join our team at Burleigh Dentistry. This is a full-time position based in Burleigh Waters, QLD 4220. This role is pivotal to the smooth operation of our practice, combining clinical support with administrative and managerial responsibilities. You will be instrumental in ensuring our patients receive excellent care whilst maintaining efficient practice operations.
