Job summary

Totally Smiles Pakenham is seeking an experienced Dental Assistant to join our welcoming team on a full-time basis. We are open Monday to Saturday with shifts rostered across these days, in a modern 4-chair practice offering general and cosmetic treatments.

You will support dentists, prepare instruments, manage patient comfort, and help maintain a clean, efficient surgery. Excellent communication and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Dental Assistant is essential.
• Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with dental software (EXACT) is advantageous.
• Ability to multitask and manage time in a fast-paced clinic.
• Professionalism and empathy in patient interactions.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Patient care: greet patients and prepare them for procedures.
• Clinical support: assist dentist during examinations and procedures and sterilise instruments.
• Inventory management: monitor supplies and keep treatment rooms stocked.
• Patient education: provide post-operative care guidance and oral hygiene advice.
• Team collaboration: work with dentists, hygienists and staff to ensure smooth workflow.
• Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.

About The Position

Totally Smiles Pakenham is currently seeking an experienced Dental Assistant to join our welcoming team on a full-time basis. Our dentists and team are highly patient-focused, ensuring the highest quality treatments and patient-centred care are delivered every time. Conveniently located in the heart of Pakenham, we are close to local shops and cafes, making it a great place to work.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Assist with patient management, including greeting patients, preparing them for procedures, and ensuring their comfort.
• Clinical Support: Prepare and sterilise dental instruments, assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, and maintain a clean and organised treatment area.
• Inventory Management: Monitor dental supplies levels, ensuring the treatment room is well-stocked and organised.
• Patient Education: Provide patients with post-operative care instructions and educate them about oral hygiene and preventive care.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with dentists, hygienists, and other staff to ensure a smooth workflow and positive patient experience.
• Compliance: Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols, as well as regulatory requirements in the dental practice.

What Do You Need To Succeed
