Job summary

Totally Smiles Pakenham is seeking an experienced Dental Assistant to join our welcoming team on a full-time basis. We are a modern 4-chair practice located in the heart of Pakenham and open Monday to Saturday, with rostered shifts across these days.

You will greet patients, prepare them for procedures, assist the dentist, sterilise instruments, and help maintain a clean, efficient treatment area. Prior experience and a Cert III/IV in Dental Assisting are valued, with flexibility for varied

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Dental Assistant is essential.
• A Cert III or IV in Dental Assisting is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Prior experience with EXACT dental software program is beneficial.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Capability to address patient concerns and resolve issues with professionalism and empathy.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient management and ensure patient comfort.
• Prepare and sterilise dental instruments; assist the dentist during examinations and procedures.
• Monitor dental supplies and keep the treatment room stocked.
• Educate patients on post-operative care and oral hygiene.
• Collaborate with dentists, hygienists and staff for smooth workflow.

About the position:

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Care: Assist with patient management, including greeting patients, preparing them for procedures, and ensuring their comfort.
• Clinical Support: Prepare and sterilise dental instruments, assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, and maintain a clean and organised treatment area.
• Inventory Management: Monitor dental supplies levels, ensuring the treatment room is well-stocked and organised.
• Patient Education: Provide patients with post-operative care instructions and educate them about oral hygiene and preventive care.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with dentists, hygienists, and other staff to ensure a smooth workflow and positive patient experience.
• Compliance: Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols, as well as regulatory requirements in the dental practice.
