Job summary

K'gari Beach Resort on K'gari is seeking a trade-qualified Demi Chef to join our culinary team. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will cook and serve meals for guests, following guidelines and recipes, while maintaining high standards of food safety and presentation.

The role requires relocation to the island, full-time hours (76 hours per fortnight) and a supportive, team-oriented kitchen environment. Prior experience in a resort or hotel kitchen is preferred, with a strong emphasis on quality

Qualifications

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
Food Safety Course essential, with RSA desirable.
Minimum 2 years’ Demi Chef experience in a high-volume kitchen.
Ability to work across a broad rostering system with effective time management.
Advanced communication, grooming and presentation.
Experience in a multi-outlet resort or hotel environment.

Responsibilities

Cook and serve general and specialised meals according to guidelines and direction from the Executive Chef.
Maintain hygiene, cleanliness, food safety and WHS standards in the kitchen.
Ensure quality, presentation and timely delivery of meals.
Communicate with Food and Beverage staff and work with apprentices and the broader kitchen team.
Assist with baking, pastry, butchering, stock management and prep as required.
