Job summary

Compass Group Pty Limited is seeking an experienced Hospitality & Catering Manager to lead operations at RMC Duntroon in Canberra. The role focuses on delivering exceptional dining experiences, managing hospitality and kitchen teams, and driving service excellence in a defence environment.

You will oversee rostering, budgets and event catering while ensuring food safety and stakeholder satisfaction. This is a hands-on leadership position with career progression within ESS Defence and Compass

Qualifications

• Proven experience in hospitality management, catering management or food and beverage leadership.
• Strong computer literacy with experience using Microsoft Office programs.
• Strong people management, coaching and development skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Sound knowledge of food safety, HACCP and allergen management.
• Experience managing rosters, labour costs and operational performance.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Professional presentation and customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop hospitality, catering and kitchen teams across daily operations.
• Drive a positive team culture focused on engagement, accountability and service excellence.
• Oversee dining services, catering operations, hospitality functions and customer experience delivery.
• Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, food safety standards and service expectations.
• Manage rostering, workforce planning and team performance.
• Monitor operational budgets, labour utilisation and service outcomes.
• Maintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness and operational efficiency.
• Build strong relationships with Defence stakeholders and internal teams.
• Coordinate hospitality functions, catering services and special events.
