You’re the heartbeat of every cruise. As a Deckhand, you’ll berth the vessel, welcome guests aboard, keep watch and step up when it matters. You’re often the first and last crew member our guests meet, so your energy sets the tone for their whole day.
You’ll work mainly across Captain Cook Cruises, The Jackson and Starship Group vessels on Sydney Harbour, alongside the Master and a marine crew who take pride in doing things properly. On our charter vessels, you’ll also join the Hospitality team when deck duties allow, building marine and guest-service skills at the same time.
You’re a Deckhand who takes pride in the work nobody notices until it goes wrong: the tidy line, the watchful eye, the gangway that’s always ready. You’re happiest on deck in any weather, and you move with purpose when the berth is tight and the timetable is ticking. You back your Master and your crew without needing to be asked, you speak up the moment something doesn’t look right, and you’re hungry to learn real seamanship from those who’ve done it for years. As the first friendly face guests meet and the last they wave goodbye to, you make every one of them feel like the day was made for them.
Please note: A National Criminal History Check forms part of our recruitment process.
