Job summary

Opal Fibre Packaging, located in Spearwood, WA, seeks a Mechanical Fitter for a full-time day shift (Mon–Thu 7am–3pm and Fri 7am–12pm). The role focuses on preventative maintenance, equipment reliability, and technical support to Maintenance and Production teams.

Ideal candidates have HRWL, forklift/EWP exposure, machining and welding skills, and a proactive, team-focused attitude. SAP experience is valued. Overtime may be required; internal/external applicants welcome.

Qualifications

• High-risk work license (HRWL) required or in place.
• Forklift driving experience and elevated work platforms exposure desirable.
• Machining and basic welding experience.
• SAP experience is highly regarded but not essential.
• Commitment to safe working practices and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute preventative maintenance practices on the site.
• Maintain equipment condition and reliability to meet quality and safety targets.
• Provide technical support to Maintenance and Production teams.
• Respond to machine breakdowns and complete repairs.
• Assist with ordering components from external suppliers with approval.
• Communicate repair and maintenance details to the team clearly.

Job description

Opal Fibre Packaging provides a full service offering in corrugated cardboard box packaging from design and product testing through to supply chain integration. We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter to join the team at our site in Spearwood (WA). This role is a full-time and ongoing position on the day shift roster (Monday to Thursday 7am – 3pm and Friday 7am – 12pm).

The key focus of this role will be to:

• Play a key role within a team focused on the development and execution of efficient preventative maintenance practices on the site.
• Maintaining equipment condition and reliability so that company quality and safety targets can be achieved.
• Provide technical support to the Maintenance and Production teams.
• Where required the timely action and satisfactory completion of machine breakdowns.
• Assist with ordering components from external suppliers as necessary with appropriate approval.
• Respond to specific requests regarding the details of repair and/or maintenance to equipment on a technical basis.

For this role we would ideally like you to have:

• A high-risk work license (HRWL), with relevant forklift-driving & elevated work platforms experience (is desirable)
• Machining and basic welding experience
• A positive mindset
• Experience using maintenance management systems (SAP experience is highly regarded, but not essential)
• Knowledge & experience in safe working practices/procedures
• The ability to be a supportive team member, trustworthy with great work ethic
• The ability to be a quick learner with a professional can-do attitude
• Ability to work overtime hours as required
• Dual-trade would be highly-regarded but is not mandatory
