Job summary

Opal Australasia is seeking a Maintenance Fitter for the Day Shift at its Barnawartha site. You will perform repairs, installations and preventive maintenance on machinery, with shifts Tue-Fri 5am–3pm and responsibilities across breakdowns and planned maintenance.

The role requires fault finding, strong communication, and the ability to work with production teams, follow safe work practices, and provide support after hours as needed.

Qualifications

Trade qualified fitter or equivalent.
Experience on high speed production lines is advantageous.
Reliable, self-motivated and able to work unsupervised in a team.
Team player with strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

Breakdowns: perform running repairs and troubleshoot issues as they occur.
Shutdowns: carry out planned servicing of machines and equipment.
Complete timely repair actions and restore production quickly.
Support continuous improvement of preventative maintenance practices.
Provide technical support to Maintenance and Production teams.
Follow safe work practices and Opal policies at all times.
Assist with ordering components from external suppliers with approval.
Respond to repair/maintenance queries with technical detail.
Provide after-hours support as needed (overtime).
