Job summary

Smartgroup is seeking an experienced Database Analyst to optimise our data platforms and support enterprise data operations across the organisation. You will manage database platforms, improve performance, and contribute to cloud transformation initiatives in a dynamic IT environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in database administration, strong T-SQL, SQL Server HA/DR, and experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Data Factory and Synapse Analytics, plus Power BI for reporting.

Qualifications

5+ years in database administration, preferably in enterprise environments.
Strong SQL Server experience with HA/DR (AlwaysOn, replication, backups).
Advanced T-SQL and MS data technologies (SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, Power BI).
Experience with cloud-based databases, especially Azure SQL Managed Instance.
Familiarity with Azure Data Factory and Synapse Analytics for data integration.

Responsibilities

Monitor and manage internal and external data feeds to ensure reliable data availability.
Administer and maintain database platforms and schemas for secure access.
Provide database performance tuning, automation, scripting and best practices.
Plan and implement system upgrades and enhancements to improve service continuity.
Develop implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures for operational reliability.
Partner with vendors and stakeholders to resolve incidents, minimise downtime and support platform improvements.
