The University of Sydney’s Faculty of Engineering invites a Data Insights Analyst to extract, transform and visualise data, delivering analytical insights to inform university strategies and support internal and external processes from Camperdown Campus.

The role focuses on applying foundational data analytics techniques, leveraging the Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, Power Apps) and AI tools to automate workflows and improve decision making.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
Demonstrated experience delivering technical solutions focusing on digital forms and workflow, automation, collaboration services and process improvement.
Ability to evaluate and apply emerging technologies, including AI, automation, analytics, and other disruptive technologies.
Strong capability in data analytics, machine learning, system modelling and intelligent automation.
Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, and Power Apps, for data analysis workflows.
Proficiency in analyzing and providing insights on complex quantitative and qualitative data.
Proficiency in Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, intelligent agents, LLM services and the Microsoft Power Platform.
Experience engaging with diverse internal and external project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Extract, transform, and visualise data to provide analytical insights.
Use foundational data analysis techniques to help shape university strategies and design IT solutions.
Support the administration of data collection efforts for informed decision-making.
Collect and provide data for internal monitoring and contribute to understanding external implications.
Engage in data preparation and cleansing to ensure the reliability of analytical results.
Support effective handover of solutions by documenting their development and training stakeholders to utilise those solutions.
Take the lead in handling stakeholder communications, ensuring that concerns are addressed effectively and promptly while fostering a culture of trust and collaboration within the work area and beyond.
