Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking a Data Insights Analyst to extract and visualise data, derive analytics, and support operations at the Faculty of Engineering. The role will use foundational data techniques to inform university strategies and report data for internal and external processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of training/experience
• Experience delivering technical solutions focusing on digital forms, workflow, automation, collaboration services and process improvement
• Ability to evaluate and apply emerging technologies including AI, automation, analytics and disruptive tech
• Strong data analytics, machine learning, system modelling and intelligent automation skills
• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, Power Apps) for data analysis workflows
• Confident in analysing and providing insights on complex quantitative and qualitative data
• Proficiency with Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, intelligent agents, LLM services and Power Platform
• Experience engaging with diverse internal and external project stakeholders

Base Salary $107,312 - $115,686 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Faculty of Engineering is currently seeking a Data Insights Analyst to extract and visualise data to derive insightful analytics, employing foundational techniques to help inform university strategies and play a key role in collecting and reporting data for internal and external processes.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• extract, transform, and visualise data to provide analytical insights
• use foundational data analysis techniques to help shape university strategies and design IT solutions
• support the administration of data collection efforts for informed decision-making
• collect and provide data for internal monitoring and contribute to understanding external implications
• engage in data preparation and cleansing to ensure the reliability of analytical results
• s upport effective handover of solutions by documenting their development and training stakeholders to utilise those solutions
• take the lead in handling stakeholder communications, ensuring that concerns are addressed effectively and promptly while fostering a culture of trust and collaboration within the work area and beyond.

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
• demonstrated experience in delivering technical solutions that focus on digital forms and workflow, automation, collaboration services and process improvement
• ability to evaluate and apply emerging technologies, including AI, automation, analytics, and other disruptive technologies.
• strong capability in data analytics, machine learning, system modelling and intelligent automation
• demonstrated experience with the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, and Power Apps, for data analysis workflows
• confident in analysing and providing insights on complex quantitative and qualitative data
• proficiency in Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, intelligent agents, LLM services and the Microsoft Power Platform
• experience engaging with diverse internal and external project stakeholders.
