Data Engineer — Snowflake & AI-Driven Retail Analytics

Job summary

Sirius. is building a modern data platform in Australia to power retail analytics. This hands-on Data Engineer role sits in a growing Data & Insights team, handling pipelines, models, and reporting foundations across a national footprint.

You will ingest data from multi-site POS, ecommerce, and marketing, turning raw data into analytics-ready datasets in a governed Snowflake environment for trusted decision-making.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in data engineering with pipeline delivery and data quality focus.
• Strong SQL and Python; proficient with Snowpark for complex logic.
• Solid Snowflake and dbt experience with testing and documentation.
• Experience with master data management, entity resolution, or deduplication.
• Experience building and governing reference data sets (hierarchies, lookups).
• Azure Data Factory and ADLS for ingestion and orchestration.
• Hands-on iPaaS experience configuring integrations.
• Data quality profiling and validation in layered warehouse.
• Knowledge of dimensional modelling (Kimball) and ELT patterns.
• Experience designing datasets for BI tools (Power BI preferred).
• Able to work with legacy/messy source systems and communicate trade-offs.
• Familiar with Git, CI/CD, and agile delivery.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain ELT pipelines bringing data from source systems into Snowflake.
• Develop and maintain dbt models following a medallion architecture and strict modelling conventions.
• Design and build dimensional models to support reliable reporting and future AI use-cases.
• Work with Azure Data Factory and ADLS for ingestion pipelines and support iPaaS tooling.
• Contribute to AI initiatives, including integration of LLM solutions and agentic workflows.
• Troubleshoot data quality issues at the source and implement robust validation and cleansing logic.
• Support Power BI reporting by ensuring datasets are well-modelled and performant.
• Configure iPaaS integrations to automate data movement and reduce manual handoffs.
• Apply CI/CD, version control, and testing practices to the data platform.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate complex requirements into reliable data products.
