Job summary

Anderson's Creek Primary School in Melbourne's north-eastern suburbs invites applications for a classroom teacher. The successful candidate will plan, prepare and teach programs to meet diverse student needs, with a focus on literacy and numeracy, and contribute to school-wide priorities.

You will work under guidance at Range 1 or Range 2, participate in policy development, supervise student teachers, use data to inform teaching, and engage with families and the wider school community to support

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
• Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.
• Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning. Demonstrated experience in using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement.
• Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.

Responsibilities

• The classroom teacher's primary focus is on planning, preparation and teaching programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
• Engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills for engaging students and improving learning.
• Assist school to improve student performance and align with school strategic plans and priorities.
• Model exemplary practice and mentor/coach other teachers to reflect on practice and expand capacity.
• Supervise and train one or more student teachers and use student data to inform teaching approaches.
• Participate in policy development and contribute to school priorities.
