IKEA Australia & New Zealand is seeking a Country Data Analyst to translate complex data into actionable insights that influence country performance and strategy. You will extract and share insights to improve customer experiences and business decisions.

You'll leverage SQL, Python, and PowerBI to mine data, conduct A/B testing concepts, and tell data stories across functions. This role is permanent, full-time with on-site work at Tempe NSW and requires a police check.

Qualifications

  • Formal qualifications in a quantitative field (BSc/MSc/PhD or equivalent).
  • At least 2 years of professional experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst or Data Scientist.
  • Strong knowledge of data processing for large datasets and data visualization.

As the Data Analyst for IKEA Australia & New Zealand, you will drive our data-driven approach by extracting and sharing powerful insights from data. Your expertise will directly influence present and future decisions on country performance and strategy, ultimately contributing to a better experience for our customers and helping us create a better everyday life for the many. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Champions data-driven decision-making promoting and ensuring the use of insights to significantly improve business performance.
  • Conducts advanced data exploration and analysis leveraging modern data mining techniques and visualisation tools to deliver actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Evaluates and integrates diverse data sources assessing both internal and external structured data for product analytics and strategic decision-making.
  • Write demanding SQL queries that extract, transform and load data from storage to an appropriate format.
  • Translate data into compelling narratives collaborating cross-functionally to ensure data solutions meet business needs and continuously generate value.

You have a strong foundation in data analysis, encompassing data mining techniques, modern visualisation software (e.g. PowerBI), and expertise in SQL and scripting languages like Python for sharing insights. Your knowledge extends to probability, statistics (including A/B testing), and an understanding of leveraging large datasets for improved business decision‑making. You thrive in cross‑disciplinary environments, balancing speed with rigor, and possess excellent communication skills for compelling data storytelling to diverse audiences. Crucially, you understand the complexity of the IKEA business and the integrated role of data & analytics within it.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Formal qualifications (BSc, MSc, PhD) in economics, engineering, natural sciences, computer science, statistics or mathematics or an equivalent field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience as a Business Analyst, (Junior) Data/Web Analyst, or (Junior) Data Scientist.
  • Good knowledge of data processing for large datasets.
  • Preferred familiarity with cloud computing environments, such as Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Preferred experience with digital product development in a retail setting.

Additional information:

  • Permanent, full‑time, 76hrs/fortnight.
  • The location for the role is Service Office, Tempe NSW, with a minimum of 3 days a week on‑site.
  • If you are successful for this role, you will be required to obtain a national police check.
