IKEA Australia & New Zealand is seeking a Country Data Privacy Leader to implement the Data Privacy strategy, drive regulatory compliance, and protect the IKEA brand across the market. This role operationalises Privacy by Design and collaborates with local teams to uphold privacy standards.

You will maintain risk registers, guide suppliers on privacy controls, influence stakeholders, and stay ahead of changes in privacy legislation.

Qualifications

As the Country Data Privacy Leader for IKEA Australia & New Zealand, you'll be responsible for implementing the Data Privacy strategy in the market. This includes driving compliance with relevant internal steering documents and regulatory requirements in Data Privacy within the country organisation to protect the brand. You will operationalise Privacy by Design procedures and embed a Privacy by Design culture in the market. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Guides and executes complex operational requirements and activities essential for upholding our data privacy strategy.
  • Maintains and updates local risk registers, ensuring they accurately reflect our current risk landscape.
  • Conducts thorough assessments to identify requirements for new and existing solutions, processes, and data management activities, ensuring alignment with our security and privacy goals.
  • Manages local suppliers through their full lifecycle, from selection to ongoing monitoring, ensuring their adherence to data privacy standards.
  • Leads collaborative efforts with business partners to foster a robust data privacy maturity and governance framework across the organisation.
  • Provides expert guidance on daily data privacy issues, enabling successful navigation and compliance with our steering documents and local Data Privacy legislation.
  • Stays current with emerging trends and changes in data privacy legislation, proactively adapting our approach.
  • Builds and maintains deep knowledge and expertise in data privacy, serving as a key resource for the market.
  • Identifies and implements innovative solutions to address issues and capitalise on opportunities, striving for industry-standard best practices.
  • Continuously works to improve our working methods and processes, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in our security and privacy efforts.

You have a solid understanding of privacy by design, knowing how to operationalise it within a local market, and broad knowledge of potential information risks for our organisation, co-workers, customers, and suppliers, along with effective mitigation strategies. You are familiar with IKEA's business processes, governance structures, IT solutions at Ingka, and proven experience with risk management are key. You are confident leading Data Privacy requirements, providing expert guidance to stakeholders, coordinating diverse activities, and act with integrity and discretion as a trusted business partner. You are a strong and adaptable communicator, and you can effectively interpret technical security audits.
To be considered for this role you will have:

  • 2-3 years of experience working directly with Data Privacy projects or programmes.
  • CIPM, CIPP/x or AIGP qualifications would be highly regarded
  • Knowledge of data privacy legislation in Australia & New Zealand and the controls needed to ensure compliance.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and promote the business benefits of Data Privacy controls.
  • Ability to lead change within a complex organisation.
  • Ability to demonstrate a risk-based approach to decisions concerning information security and data privacy.
  • Knowledge of the risk management process, including performing risk assessments and advising on needed IT mitigating controls.
