Job summary

Glen Eira City Council invites an experienced cyber security leader to head its cyber defence capability. Reporting to the Head of Technology & Cyber Defence, you will set priorities, guide delivery, and apply your technical expertise to complex issues across the council.

You will build trusted relationships, remove roadblocks, and provide practical advice to senior leaders while embedding cyber resilience into council operations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership in cyber security operations or incident response.
• Strong hands-on technical capability to troubleshoot complex security issues.
• Ability to set priorities and coordinate multiple stakeholders through delivery.
• Ability to translate technical risk into clear options for leaders.

Responsibilities

• Security monitoring, threat and vulnerability management, incident readiness and response, and ongoing improvement of security controls.
• Determine key priorities, coordinate internal specialists and external providers, and drive work to resolution.
• Explain cyber risks in plain language and provide clear options and recommendations to managers, executives and the CEO.
• Build trust and bring people together around shared priorities to embed cyber resilience.
