Job description

people2people are partnering with a well-established global logistics and freight forwarding organisation to recruit a Licensed Customs Broker for their Melbourne operation.

With a strong international presence and a reputation for investing in their people, this organisation continues to experience steady growth across its customs function. As a result of increasing volume and future growth plans, they are looking to expand their customs team with the addition of another broker.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that combines the resources and stability of a global organisation with the support and collaboration of a close-knit local team.

The Opportunity

Working within a supportive customs team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end customs clearance process, ensuring all import and export declarations are completed accurately and in accordance with Australian customs regulations.

  • Preparing and lodging import and export declarations
  • Tariff classification and customs compliance
  • Managing customs holds, inspections and quarantine requirements
  • Reviewing shipping and customs documentation
  • Liaising with freight forwarders, transport providers and regulatory authorities
  • Providing advice and guidance on customs requirements
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance standards are met
  • Supporting continuous improvement within the customs function

You’ll be joining a team that already has compiler and offshore support in place, allowing brokers to focus on value-added customs activities rather than excessive administrative tasks.

The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to develop their skills while working alongside highly experienced customs professionals in a collaborative environment that encourages learning, knowledge sharing and professional growth.

About You

To be successful, you will have:

  • A current Australian Customs Broker Licence
  • Experience within customs brokerage, customs clearance or freight forwarding
  • Strong knowledge of customs compliance and tariff classifications
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with CargoWise is highly regarded but not essential.

Importantly, our client is open to considering both newly licensed and experienced brokers. If you hold a current licence and are looking for a business where you can continue to develop your career, we encourage you to apply.

We’re looking for someone who values teamwork, takes pride in the quality of their work, demonstrates sound judgement, and understands the importance of integrity within the customs industry. This role will suit someone who enjoys contributing to a positive team environment and building strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders alike.

What’s on Offer?
  • Salary package of up to $120,000 + Super
  • Hybrid working arrangement available following onboarding and training
  • Structured onboarding and training programs
  • Supportive leadership and mentorship from experienced industry professionals
  • Regular team catch-ups and development discussions
  • Employee recognition initiatives and team events
  • Long-term career development within a growing global organisation

If you’re a Licensed Customs Broker looking to join a business that values collaboration, professional development and long-term career growth, we’d love to hear from you.
