Job summary

Gisborne Garden and Building Supplies is seeking a busy, multi-skilled retail and yard assistant for our on-site team in the Macedon Ranges. You will support customer service, handle telephone duties, and assist with office tasks using a POS/EFTPOS system.

Heavy lifting and operation of hire equipment will be required across a six-day week. We value neat presentation, polite communication, and reliability, with training provided and opportunities to obtain truck and forklift licenses to broaden

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Able to lift 20 kg bags and heavy items.
• Willing to obtain truck and forklift licenses.
• Accurate note taking and polite communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service with neat presentation and friendly manner.
• Handle telephone duties with polite speech and accurate notes.
• Perform office tasks using POS and EFTPOS (training provided).
• Handle heavy items such as 20 kg bags and timber sleepers.
• Operate front end loaders and forklifts and manage the hire equipment fleet.
• Maintain cleaning and safety of hire equipment.

Job description

This is a very busy and varied role in a large garden supply business. You will work across customer service, telephone operations, office systems, physical product handling, machinery operation, and mechanical maintenance of hire equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Customer service with neat and tidy presentation and friendly outgoing personality
• Telephone duties requiring politeness, clear speech, and accurate note taking
• Office work using POS, EFTPOS and other computer programs (training provided)
• Handling of 20kg bags, timber sleepers and other heavy products
• Operation of front end loaders and forklifts as well as large fleet of hire equipment
• Cleaning and safety maintenance of hire equipment

We are a large garden supply business with a range of tippers and agitators running 6 days per week (Mon-Sat) between 7am and 5pm.
