Job summary

Work & Training in Hobart is seeking a reliable Yard Hand / MR Driver to join our landscaping and garden supplies team. The role combines yard duties, front-end loader operation, delivery driving, and customer service in a busy, fast-paced environment.

You will be loading and unloading materials, assisting customers, processing sales at the POS, and helping to keep the yard safe, tidy, and well organised. Weekend work is required on a rotating roster.

Qualifications

• MR licence is required and must be current.
• Experience with Front End Loader is desirable.
• Good understanding of weights, volumes and load capacities.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Willingness to work weekends on a rotating roster.
• Ability to operate POS systems.
• Physically fit for manual handling.

Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading landscaping materials including soil, mulch, sand, gravel, rocks, and pavers.
• Operating a Front End Loader to safely load customer vehicles and delivery trucks.
• Delivering products to residential and commercial customers using company MR vehicles.
• Assisting customers with product enquiries and order collection.
• Processing sales and payments through the POS system.
• Preparing and checking customer orders for collection and delivery.
• Understanding product weights, volumes, and dimensions.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised yard.
• Stock control and general yard maintenance.
• Manual handling of landscaping products and materials.
• Working collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient day-to-day operations.

Join Our Landscaping Supplies Team

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and customer-focused Yard Hand / MR Driver to join our busy landscaping and garden supplies business.

This is a diverse, hands-on role that combines yard operations, front-end loader operation, customer service, sales support, and delivery driving. The successful applicant will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and committed to providing outstanding service to our customers.

Weekend work is required as part of a rotating roster.

Key Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading landscaping materials including soil, mulch, sand, gravel, rocks, and pavers

Essential Requirements

• Current Medium Rigid (MR) Driver Licence
• Front End Loader ticket and/or proven operating experience (desirable as training can be provided)
• Strong understanding of weights, measurements, volumes, and load capacities
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Experience using Point of Sale (POS) systems
• Physically fit and capable of performing manual handling duties
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
• Available to work weekends as required

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience in landscaping supplies, building products, quarry, transport, or a similar industry
• Knowledge of landscaping materials and their applications
• Experience in a retail, trade sales, or customer-facing environment
