Job summary

Mater Private Hospital Townsville is seeking an experienced CSSD Manager to lead the Central Sterile Services Department and deliver safe, high-quality sterilisation services on a permanent full-time basis.

You will oversee decontamination, sterilization and distribution, maintain equipment, and drive compliance with AS/NZS 4187:2014 while developing your team and improving service delivery across perioperative areas.

Qualifications

• Experience as a CSSD Technician or Supervisor in a hospital.
• In-depth knowledge of sterilisation methods, infection control, and regulatory guidelines.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with different departments.
• Compliance with AS/NZS 4187:2014 standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily CSSD operations: decontamination, sterilization and distribution of medical equipment.
• Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of sterilization equipment.
• Advise management on issues affecting quality and financial performance of CSSD within Perioperative Services.
• Propose improvements to Perioperative Services Manager to enhance production and service delivery.
• Develop and implement policies to optimise CSSD resources.
• Conduct regular audits and quality checks in line with NSQHS Standards.
• Investigate procedure failures and perform system analyses.
• Maintain compliance with hazardous substances, manual handling, drug/alcohol, sharps and infectious waste policies.
• Arrange in-service training on new equipment and products.
• Collaborate with departments to ensure adequate supply of sterilized equipment.
