Job summary

Ampcontrol is seeking a Mechanical Services Engineer to design, integrate, test and commission cooling systems for critical power infrastructure. The role sits at the intersection of mechanical engineering and electrical infrastructure, ensuring UPS, batteries and switchgear operate safely and reliably.

You will work across concepts to commissioning, collaborating with electrical engineers, project managers, OEMs, contractors and clients, with site-based commissioning and project work as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
• Experience designing or commissioning cooling systems for data centres or critical facilities.
• Understanding the interaction between mechanical and electrical systems.
• Willingness to undertake site-based commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer HVAC, cooling and ventilation systems for UPS rooms, batteries, switchrooms, generators, modular systems and data centres.
• Perform cooling load calculations, equipment selection and mechanical layouts.
• Integrate mechanical systems with electrical infrastructure and assess thermal performance and operating requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, building codes and client specifications.
• Develop and support FAT, SAT, Integrated Systems Testing and commissioning activities.
• Troubleshoot and verify cooling performance, controls, airflow, temperature and system redundancy.
