Job summary

Ampcontrol is seeking a Mechanical Services Engineer to design, integrate, test and commission mechanical cooling systems for critical power infrastructure. You will work at the intersection of mechanical and electrical engineering to ensure UPS, batteries, switchgear and generators operate safely and reliably.

You will collaborate across projects from concept to handover, performing cooling load calculations, equipment selection and layout, while ensuring compliance with standards and client

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Experience designing and/or commissioning cooling systems, preferably in data centres or critical environments.
  • Understand interaction between mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of UPS, batteries and switchgear is advantageous.
  • Appreciation of redundancy, resilience and reliability principles.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and communications skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer HVAC, cooling and ventilation systems for UPS, batteries, switchrooms, generators, modular systems and data centres.
  • Perform cooling load calculations, equipment selection and mechanical layouts with emphasis on capacity, redundancy and maintainability.
  • Integrate mechanical systems with electrical infrastructure and assess thermal performance.
  • Ensure designs meet Australian Standards, codes and client specs.
  • Develop and support FAT, SAT and commissioning activities.
  • Troubleshoot cooling performance, controls, airflow, temperature and system redundancy.
  • Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, OEMs, contractors and clients throughout design and delivery.
  • Maintain engineering calculations, documentation and commissioning records.
