Job summary

A Team Kitchen Watsonia is seeking a full-time, creative Chef to join our busy café known for great food and specialty coffee. You will support the head chef, help run daily kitchen operations and contribute to menu development in line with seasonal ingredients.

The role requires at least 1 year in a similar position, a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, strong sanitation/OH&S knowledge, and weekend/public holiday flexibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year full-time experience in a similar role.
• Strong sanitation and OH&S knowledge required.
• Ability to produce high-quality dishes in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support the head chef in daily kitchen operations.
• Review the menu periodically and propose new dishes based on seasonal ingredients.
• Calculate costs of new dishes and manage price changes.
• Oversee junior kitchen staff and ensure proper cooking techniques and portioning.
• Ensure hygiene standards and OH&S compliance in the kitchen.
• Monitor ingredient freshness and apply FIFO for stock rotation.
