Job summary

G4S plc is seeking a Court Security Officer for Geelong (Casual). The role focuses on maintaining safety at the courts and providing exceptional customer service to all entrants.

Training is provided on-site, including weapon-screening procedures, and you will be qualified as an Authorised Officer after completion. The position emphasizes problem solving, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to changing situations across the Geelong & Colac Court hubs.

Qualifications

• Must hold Certificate II Security Operations.
• Current Victorian security licence.
• Willingness to complete background check, including National Police Check, and pre-employment medical with D&A assessment.
• Must be willing to travel across Geelong & Colac Court.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service at the court entrance.
• Conduct x-ray screening and use metal detectors; search individuals for prohibited items.
• Roaming security patrols inside and outside the building.
• Handle conflict resolution and negotiate with attendees.
• Act as first responder to incidents.
• Manage access and control rooms.

About the role and team

Our team at Court Services Victoria keeps the courts and tribunals and the people who attend them safe, secure and orderly. As a valued team member, you'll play a significant role in helping build safer communities by ensuring the public feel safe and protected when dealing with the judicial system. This is a varied position where you have to think on your feet, be able to problem solve and work as a team, making no two days the same.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Providing exceptional customer service to anyone entering the court
• Conducting x-ray screening, using metal detectors and searching individuals for prohibited items
• Roving security patrols within and external to the building
• Conflict resolution and negotiation
• Acting as a first responder to any incidents that may occur
• Managing access and control rooms

Court Services Victoria is divided into seven hub locations across the state. There are more than 65 courts across Victoria allocated to these hubs. Your workplace within a hub can be both fixed or flexible, and we can provide opportunities for movement within the contract to support your requirements. Our Barwon Hub 1 consists of Geelong and Colac Court.

What we’re looking for

• Certificate II Security Operations
• Current Victorian security licence
• Willingness to complete our Background Check process, inclusive of National Police Check, and Pre-employment medical with D&A assessment
• Must be willing to travel across Geelong & Colac Court.

The recruitment process
