Job summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety in Victoria is seeking a Prison Supervisor for the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC). You will lead and manage staff to ensure safety and security of people in prison, staff and visitors, and oversee day-to-day operations in accommodation and security areas.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to provide leadership within a correctional environment.
• Commitment to working with staff, people in prison, and other service providers to reducing re-offending.
• Experience in correctional service delivery, including staff supervision, case management and operational security practices.
• Knowledge of, and ability to apply relevant legislation, policy and procedure relating to Corrections Victoria and the management of its prison facilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operational needs of accommodation and/or security areas.
• Use strong communication, negotiation, problem-solving and leadership skills to manage and supervise a team in delivering correctional services.
• Oversee HR functions including performance management, coaching, mentoring and professional development of staff.
• Develop, implement, reinforce, and review practice and procedures relating to the management and security of people in prison.
• Lead working parties and reference groups, participate in forums or committees and provide reports to senior management.
