Job summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC – Melbourne Western Suburbs is seeking a Prison Supervisor to provide a critical role at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC). Corrections Victoria operates Victoria’s adult prison and community corrections systems, aiming for Safer Prisons and Communities.

The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day operations, supervise staff, and contribute to safer, rehabilitative corrections services at a 455-bed maximum-security female facility.

Qualifications

• Leadership in a correctional environment.
• Commitment to reducing re-offending with staff and people in custody.
• Experience in correctional service delivery including staff supervision and case management.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and policy for Corrections Victoria.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internal systems (PIMS, e-Justice, Centurion).

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operational needs of accommodation and/or security areas.
• Lead a team to deliver correctional services in a rehabilitative environment.
• Oversee human resource functions including performance management, coaching and staff development.
• Develop and implement procedures for management and security of people in prison.
• Lead working parties and report to senior management.
