Job description

Coordinator - Research Grants

CQUniversity is seeking a visionary leader to take on the pivotal role of Coordinator – Research Grants within our Office of Research. You will drive the University’s research success, oversee the full lifecycle of research grants, and empower researchers to thrive in a competitive funding environment.

Base pay range

A$114,418.00/yr – A$127,437.00/yr (plus 17% superannuation and leave loading, total remuneration $135,403 to $150,810 pa).

Work Environment
  • Full‑time, 40 hours per week
  • Office of Research, CQUniversity Rockhampton (relocation support available)
  • Higher Education Worker Level 8
Key Responsibilities

Oversee and inspire a high‑performing team supporting academic staff in securing research income. Guide grant applications, negotiate complex contracts, provide expert advice, and ensure compliance with legislation, institutional policy and funding body requirements. Liaise with granting agencies and research partners to safeguard the University’s interests and foster collaborative relationships that open doors to new opportunities.

Position Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of experience in research grants.
  • Extensive knowledge of research policies, processes, budgets, and contractual obligations; able to provide senior advice and ensure adherence to legislation and funding body guidelines.
  • Strong research, analytical, problem‑solving and planning capabilities, with a proven track record of developing strategies that increase research income and strengthen institutional competitiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise, consult, and negotiate effectively with government agencies, funding bodies, research partners and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven management experience with the ability to lead a team to foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant area, and extensive management experience and/or equivalent education and training. (Desirable)
