Job summary

The University of Queensland, Toowong campus, seeks a Senior Manager, Research Grants and Submissions to lead the Pre-Award team and oversee end-to-end grant submissions. You will guide researchers and staff through ARC, NHMRC, MRFF, and international funding processes, ensuring high-quality proposals and compliance with sponsor rules.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
• Significant experience supporting competitive research funding applications and grant submission processes
• Proven management experience, with the ability to motivate, mentor and develop high-performing teams
• Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and demanding funding cycles
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to work alongside researchers, academic leaders and professional staff
• A strong understanding of major research funding schemes and the factors that contribute to successful funding outcomes
• Sound judgement, attention to detail and a commitment to service excellence

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end competitive funding submissions and major grant rounds.
• Support and develop the Pre-Award team through mentoring and training.
• Contribute to strategic plans, policies, and operational protocols.
• Build relationships with senior academic leaders and coordinate with Legal Services for funding agreements.
• Drive continuous improvement of the MyResearch platform and workflows.
