Job summary

SummitCare’s Waverley home in Sydney is seeking a motivated Cook to join our catering team on a casual basis, 2–3 shifts per week (preferably Fridays and Saturdays). You will prepare, deliver and serve meals that reflect customer choice, reporting to the Manager, Accommodation and Services.

Ideal candidates hold a Certificate III/IV in Hospitality or Commercial Cookery, have at least two years’ cookery experience in aged care or large-scale kitchens, and possess a current Criminal Record Check

• Certificate III or IV in Hospitality / Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
• Minimum two years' experience in a Cook role within aged care or commercial kitchen.
• Clear communication with sensitivity to diverse cultures.
• Demonstrated knowledge of HACCP guidelines.
• Experience cooking for large groups and in sandwich making.

About the role

We are seeking a motivated, creative and customer-focussed Cook to join our catering team based at our Waverley home. Casual position, 2-3 shifts per week, preferably on Fridays and Saturdays.

As the Cook, you will report to the Manager, Accommodation and Services and be responsible for the day to do preparation, delivery and service of delicious and nutritionally appropriate meals that reflect customer choice.

Your key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Food preparation, service, delivery and collection
• Ensuring the Food Safety Program is followed and records kept up to date
• Adhering to Speech Pathology recommendations
• Storage & Inventory Management
• Maintenance & cleanliness of the kitchen & service area
• Ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders
• Providing good customer service and managing feedback in line with SummitCare's Feedback system

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A current Criminal Record Check
• Completed a Certificate III or IV in Hospitality / Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
• Minimum two (2) years' experience in a Cook role within Aged Care / Commercial kitchen environment
• Ability to communicate clearly & effectively ensuring cultural sensitivity is respected
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current HACCP guidelines
• Experience in a wide range of cooking, diet and nutritional requirements
• Competent in food preparation & service, cooking & plating, with demonstrated experience cooking for a large group and in sandwich making
• Ability to supervise and coordinate catering staff with their daily duties
• Demonstrated ability to work within a team and without supervision
