Light Years Byron Bay is seeking a passionate Cook to join our vibrant modern Asian kitchen in Byron Bay. You will work closely with our Head Chef to deliver dishes with consistency and flair in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements include 1–2 years in a busy commercial kitchen, cookery qualifications, and availability for evenings, weekends and public holidays. This permanent full-time role offers $76K-$80K plus super.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a busy commercial kitchen.
• Relevant cookery qualifications.
• Experience with modern Asian cuisine highly regarded.
• Ability to work under pressure and multitask.
• Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Positive attitude with team focus and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present dishes per Light Years’ recipes and standards.
• Ensure meals are served promptly and consistently during service.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen area.
• Assist with prep, stock rotation, and ordering supplies.
• Monitor portion control and waste to support cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house teams for seamless service.
