Job summary

Nido Early School in Sydney is seeking a Cook to craft nutritious, child‑friendly meals in a warm, educational kitchen environment. You’ll follow Nido menus, manage shop purchases, and adapt meals to dietary needs while maintaining high hygiene standards.

Ideal candidates have Food Safety Supervisor certification, a relevant cookery qualification, and experience in childcare or similar settings. WWCC clearance and a commitment to safe, inclusive feeding are essential.

Qualifications

• Allergen awareness and safe food handling.
• Strong hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
• Experience with children or childcare settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cook tasty, healthy meals following Nido menus.
• Purchase food and supplies for the kitchen.
• Ensure dietary requirements and allergies are managed with proper communication.
• Maintain high kitchen hygiene and cleanliness at all times.

The Role: Cook

• Cook delicious, healthy and nutritionally balanced meals using our Nido Menus
• Purchase food and supplies for the kitchen
• Ensure dietary and allergy requirements and restrictions for every child are supported by having thorough knowledge of risk minimisation and communication plans
• Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times

What You’ll Bring

• Certificate II or III in Commercial Cookery - desirable
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate - required
• Experience working in a childcare or aged care setting
• Valid WWCC
• Strong understanding of allergens and dietary requirements
• Please note: Any candidate employed from 1 October must provide evidence of completion of the mandatory National Child Safety Training via Geccko, including Foundation Training (courses 1&2) and Advanced Training (courses 3&4), or be willing to obtain these certifications prior to employment.
